“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No-one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had... There were no needy persons among them… those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money… and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.” Acts 4:32-35 (NIV)
In 2003, the Jamaica Baptist Union Mission Agency (JBUMA) launched the Mission Fund, giving each member of the 322 congregations within the Jamaica Baptist Union the opportunity to be a part of a wider reaching ministry that transforms lives locally, regionally and internationally.
The appeal was for members of congregations to pledge an affordable $10.00 monthly for a period of five (5) years in order to harvest a base fund. In September 2009 the fund was re-launched as the JBUMA Mission Fund “Giving Plan” and each Pastor was asked to give at least $500 monthly, each member $100 and each Church to budget at least $1,000 monthly.
The Mission Fund represents the seed fund for the mission work in Jamaica, the Caribbean and the wider world. It is our belief that everyone desires to partner in the local, regional and global mission of Jesus Christ, and through the Mission Fund “Giving Plan” we extend this opportunity to all. Your act of giving furthers the work of the Great Commission. Let us give a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over...(St. Luke 6:38) and as we expect great things from God, [let us] attempt great things for God! (William Carey).
“The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labour. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” 1 Cor. 3:8-9 (NIV)
